I love to do Christmas decorations myself. It's always a special moment for me.
I love the atmosphere at this time, with the lights and Christmas spirit.
I tried many different decorations; this one is one of my favorites.
Material:
- Paper 130g/cm2
- A cutter
- Glue
- Nylon string or a ribbon
- A needle
You can build your star completely handmade or do the cutting part with a cricut or any other cutting machine.
You can find at the bottom of this page a PDF with explanation and a template to do a 10cm or 15cm star as well as a cricut link.
Step 1:
Cut 6 squares. Cut the notches along the dotted lines.
Step 2:
Glue each corner together like on figure 2.
- 1a with 1b
- 2a with 2b
- 3a with 3b
- 4a with 4b
For the number 1 you can roll it around a pen to help you glue it.
For the numbers 2 to 4 overlap and glue the corners like on figure 3.
You will get a star branch as in picture 1.
Repeat with the 6 squares.
Step 3:
Glue the 6 star branches together to get a strip like on picture 2.
Step 4:
Overlay and glue the tips of the branches of the left group (group A, see picture 2) together as in picture 3.
Do the same with the right group (group B).
Step 5:
Glue the two tips left together (see figure 4) in the opposite direction. You will get something like in picture 4.
Step 6:
Glue the two sides of the branches marked C and D like picture 4 together.
Your star is finished.
You can do a small hole with a needle on the top of a branch to hang the star with a nylon string or a ribbon.
